Sad and a bit PO'd
Well after my doctor appointment and the tour of Labor and delivery...asking both about cord blood and hitting the we do not do donations here... AGAIN. We then went to a local store and read a poster about a local high school kid who is being sent home from Childrens hospital because the chemo is failing for his leukemia. He is being sent home to spend his last moments with his family.
Here I am trying to donate a potentially life saving thing. Something that who knows may have helped this child. Yet I cannot donate because I am not at the right hospitals (in Seattle).
I offered to family if anyone has a disease that cord blood could help treat they are welcome to it. But still it looks like it will go to waste. It saddens me. Of course hearing about that boy and him coming home to die.... ugh made me cry and feel like I can do more but I am sort of "not being allowed to help"
