Gina's Ramblings

I keep checking back on the German Shepherd rescue site. There are a few dogs that I was 'connected to'. I keep hoping they will be adopted and find a terrific home. There is one girl who is 8 years old. I keep going back to see if she has been adopted yet. I am hoping for her.

DS#1 goes in for his surgery.

says he likes the way I smell. It is sweet really. I appreciate that he takes the time to say things like that (and mean it). Today though As I washed my hair with my citrus shampoo, washed with my cucumber melon body wash and then later put on my cucmber melon lotion. I smell like a flippin' fruit salad!!!! No wonder why he likes the way I smell LOL

To the crib!!
Well after a successful night and a successful nap, it looks like the bed is working and goodbye to the crib. Dangit this is bittersweet I tell you . My baby boy is making such strides and trying to grow up all at once.

I was saddened on Tuesday when the miniman turned 18 months old. He is just growing up so fast. Tonight however is his first night in his big boy bed!!! Yes it is true tonight he pointed at the twin bed and not his crib. I was ready for the transition whenever it happened but now?? boohoo. My baby is growing up.

So far so good too. No fussing no crying no sound of him up roaming around. But we all know that could change in a heartbeat. haha I will go in to check on him in about a half hour to see how he is sleeping.

Well tomorrow I make the call to work on financing for me for school. Nothing huge no advanced degrees or anything, but rather school to become a medical transcriptionist.
Hey now there is a thought. Sleepless nights, do homework. Sleepless nights, do work and lots of it. Hmmm I may find a use for my insomnia afterall!

By 'it' I mean whatever it is that makes my husband fall asleep within 2.3 seconds of his head hitting the pillow.
Is it wrong that I am jealous?? I just wish I could sleep , fall asleep quickly, and stay asleep. Is that too much to ask?
I am getting tired of restless sleep and difficulty falling asleep. pooey

BTW if my husband takes this test he BETTER get all of them right!

As soon as I got ready to go to bed the dog wanted out! darnit haha.
So while I was waiting on him I threw in a load of laundry and a load of dishes. Hey at least I can say I tried to be productive haha

Grady's appointment with the orthpedist went great. He looked over the x-rays and looked at his arm. He confirmed that it is back aligned just fine. and that Grady should make a full recovery.
We leave with the instructions that if he doesn't use the arm within a week to head on back to see him. Well wouldn't you know it as soon as we left to go to his favorite 'store', the fruit stand. He started using his arm again like nothing was ever wrong with it.
What a relief and what a booger hahaha
I love him to bits :)

Other than that Gustav (the new dog) is adjusting well. He is working through his quirks or rather we all are working through them.

I went out today and stocked up on underwear, socks and T-shirts for DH and the boys. Got to love a good sale!
I caught up on my episodes of Deadwood. Have I mentioned I love my DVR?
And yet here it is at 2:30 am
Tomorrow we are dropping off a donation of cat food and cat litter to the shelter since they have an over abundance of cats. And to think I am not a cat person. HAHA
And again here it is at 2:30 am and my mind was wandering to what I am going to make for dinner!! I really need to get back to our menu!
My oldest will be back in one week!!!! I am GIDDY
He needs to be HOME where he belongs.
Tomorrow I have errands to run things to get and all. Saturday we are taking the dogs to the Vet. I am a bit upset that our base no longer has a vet! It is such a hurt to the pocket book! We are also going to the farmers market on Sat. The kids will love it I know.
OK I know I am going to steam some fresh green beans for dinner and.... hmmm yeah well I thought I might be on a roll there but nope haha still no idea for the rest of dinner. I am honestly typing as I think that is prett scary. haha Not sure what is scarier the typing part or the thinking part......

Hmmm aside from all of that rambling life is good I am happy but way too awake right now. I have plenty to do in the morning and I need to sleep. So I am off to try to catch some Z's again.

His arm is no better this morning. He is still in pain and still not moving the arm. He goes to the dr at 11am.

injured my toddler son. Yes it is true. I nominate myself for the worst mother of the year.
Today dh and I were moving the BBQ onto the deck. Grady was on the deck as well. As we were headed up he tried to head down the stairs. I reached out with one hand and grabbed him so he wouldn't fall. I grabbed him by the wrist and heard POP. He started screaming and wouldn't stop he was in pain... a lot. So off to the ER we went. Turns out that grab that stopped him from a fall dislocated his wrist and elbow!!!!
The doc tried to pop it back into place and they took x-rays. He still isn't moving his arm and he is still in pain. but the x-rays did not show a break. They will be reviewed by the radiologist in the morning and if there IS a break we will get an immediate call. If he doesn't start using his arm tomorrow we have to go back as well. So here it is midnight and I am still on a rush of adrenaline, and guilt. lots and lots of guilt.

WOOHOO. So as soon as the boys got back to school I get back to work!!

Well Rommel is home with us. I still have fear that his old owners will change their mind. He is HAPPY to have a yard to run and run and run in. Gunther is slowly warming up to him and realized this dog can give him a run for his money...literaly!
The bad news. Rommel has Kennel cough! I am a bit ticked but we have been down this road before with Gunther. My dogs are up to date on the vaccination. I will get Rommel to the vet to have a complete check-up soon.

well here it is 1:30 am and what am I doing? sitting here awake and no signs of sleeping. Tylenol PM yeah I am stronger than you buddy lol.
We have a trip in the morning to meet a dog. Maybe it is anxiety?? But what am I worried the dog won't like me or something? lol
Well I switched over the loads of laundry, put in a new load and well that is pretending to be productive at least.
I rearranged my oldest sons room it opened up a lot more space in there and well every nook and cranny is vacuumed. That kid has a heck of a deal. He gets to mess his room up for 9 months out of the year and then he leaves for 3 months and tada spotless room. Hmmm if I leave for a week will someone clean my house? Yeah I doubt it too.
OK my dogs are even snoring I am going to try to get some z's

We have had months of tension. Waiting to hear if DH made E7. Lots of anxiety leading up to it. Not knowing where it may take us, would we have to move? sell the house? Then BAM it is over he didn't make it and things are back to 'normal'.
This must be what thrill seekers go through the WOOHOOO of the build up and then the letdown and back to nothing when it is over. Le Sigh

That is OK next year we do it all over again!! hahaha

Well possible good news today too! The German Shepherd recue called.... I get to go meet a dog!!! His name is Roscoe and he seems perfect for us. He is such a handsome boy too!

I made fresh blueberry muffins this morning. The house smells DELICIOUS! Little man is on his 4th muffin!!! Miniman is on his second! Lordy. I am glad they are good hahaha

"Good news is I don't have to find new orders"
Which translates into "I didn't make chief this go 'round."
It is so mixed I feel TERRIBLE for hubby BUT We don't have to sell the house or anything either.
There is always next year. And it looks like a definite that 2009 is the end of hubby Naval career. So close.

Which little 'voice' in your head do you listen to?
I get what I have always called an "itch" in my brain that tells me something is going on. 95% of the time I am right. For example- Once I got an itch that dh is having a REALLY bad day once in the Gulf. I email him, he was stupefied that I knew.... I was right.
I have an itch now that says something is going on with DH.
BUT it is followed by a little voice saying 'nah I am overreacting'
But the itch is still there.

Is it bad I just want to know if Dh made Chief? Just get the list out.
I know it will all come in due time and worrying won't do anything. But the planner in me wants to know so I know what to plan for.

DS#2 is the proud new guardian of 2 little guinea pigs. So now the Guinea total is 3!! All males no babies thank goodness!
